Postdoctoral Researcher - Bioethics and Social Science

Grade 7: £32,236 - £39,609 p.a.
This is an exciting new position within the Bioethics and Engagement department at the Mahidol Oxford Tropical Medicine Research Unit (MORU) within Centre for Tropical Medicine and Global Health. MORU conducts ethics and engagement research as well as provide ethics support to clinical research studies throughout its network including ethics training and addressing ethical problems with research. MORU collaborates closely with the Ethox Centre, University of Oxford and other ethics/social science/engagement departments within the Oxford Tropical Network (e.g. Laos, Myanmar, Kenya, Vietnam).

If you are successful you will be based in Oxford and will work on ethics projects related to the scientific research that MORU undertakes. Projects are usually multi-country and multidisciplinary. In the first instance, you will conduct qualitative studies on ethical issues around antimalarial resistance and malaria human challenge studies.

The ideal candidate will hold, or be close to completion of a PhD/DPhil in the social sciences, law, bioethics or biomedical sciences or equivalent qualification and will also be able to spend short periods of time in Thailand.

This post is fixed-term for 2 years in the first instance.
